Following updated government guidelines, here are the current rules and guidelines for property viewings.
Online viewings and social distancing
At the moment, online viewings are still the safest option available. Thanks to the wonders of digital technology, listings can be accompanied by virtual tours that often provide a full walkthrough of the property. This is a great way for potential buyers to get a feel for a property and understand the layout and space without visiting it in person.
Private inspections and social distancing
We understand that buying a property is a big purchase and for the vast majority of us, viewing it in person is essential. Thankfully, our property viewings are back underway, however, we are arranging these on an appointment only basis. Each private inspection will be carried out whilst maintaining social distancing and following all necessary precautions.
If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, you must not visit a property in person. Anyone that is not self-isolating and poses no direct risk of transmitting the virus is able to leave their house for a property viewing, but must follow social distancing rules while doing so.
Live virtual viewings
Like you, we’ve really seized on digital communication and all it can help us achieve during this time. We’re proud to be providing virtual property viewings via Facetime, Skype, WhatsApp and Zoom to limit the number of people visiting a property. These virtual viewings allow you to explore the property in a way that regular online viewing doesn’t offer, whilst also asking questions in the process.
Exploring the area
You can explore the area of the property you’re interested in by using Google Street View to virtually ‘walk’ the surrounding locale. You can also find a whole host of information about local amenities, areas of interest, schools and transport links on our property pages and online. If you would like to ask any further questions about the particular area a property is located in, feel free to get in touch. We are local experts!
Can I leave the house to view a property?
If you are not self-isolating and have no symptoms of COVID-19, you are able to view a property. The Government have said that those who are vulnerable or shielding should seek medical advice and consider their circumstances.
What should I do if I want a viewing to be carried out at my property?
If you want a viewing at your property, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. Gordon & Co staff can attend, while wearing necessary PPE at all times and ensuring viewings are brief, whilst also maintaining a social distance at all times.
If possible, we will ask you to vacate the property while viewings take place. You should also open all internal doors and ensure surfaces, such as door handles, are cleaned after each viewing.
What shall I do if I want to view a property?
Where possible, you should have a virtual viewing, whether that be the pre-recorded versions online or live via FaceTime or WhatsApp. If you do view a property in person, you should wash your hands before and after, avoid touching surfaces and your face, wear a face covering if you have and bring your own hand sanitiser if possible. The Government also say, “the number of people on a viewing should be minimised to those from your household that absolutely have to be there.”
How will Gordon & Co. change the way they do business?
Gordon & Co. will conduct virtual viewings where possible and viewings in person by appointment only with members of a single household. We will not be holding any open viewings. Our team will accompany clients to viewings, wearing necessary PPE and follow social distancing rules.
If my property is on the market, who is allowed to view it?
Potential buyers or renters, estate agents, conveyancers, tradespeople and removal workers.
If I purchase a property, will I be able to move in?
Yes, moving home is allowed provided social distancing rules are followed.
